What your site can do
Here are the ten things that most Internet web sites are used for today:
1. Sell a product or service via the web directly to the consumer.
2. Sell products to a retailer via the web.
3. Act as a retail outlet for outside products.
4. Generate leads (secure customers for offline business).
5. Promote your brand name / company image.
6. Act as middleman between consumers and suppliers.
7. Provide customer care / user support.
8. Distribute company information (for example annual reports).
9. Conduct market research.
10. Non-profit / charity functionsYour web site will be able to do all of these.
Most sites perform 2 or more of these functions - some even all or most of them. If you are new to this, we suggest starting small.
A good one to start with is # 8 - Distributing company information. Get your logo out there plus your contact information and what you do. From here it's a small step to adding product information - and later selling directly to the site visitor.
You can add more functions when everything runs smoothly and you're ready to expand. We'll structure your site so that you can add/remove most of these functions yourself.
